GuidonHub Privacy Policy

GuidonHub does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII). We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal details. There is no account creation and no sign-up process.

GuidonHub operates under a zero-PHI architecture. We do not collect, process, or store any protected health information as defined by HIPAA. The app is a resource discovery tool — it helps you find services, not manage health records.

GuidonHub uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication to maintain a session while you use the app. This creates a temporary, anonymous session token — no account is created, no credentials are stored, and no identity information is linked. The session exists only to enable app functionality and is not used for tracking.

If you grant location permission, GuidonHub uses your coordinates solely to calculate proximity to nearby veteran services. Your location is used for on-device distance calculations only. It is never stored, logged, or transmitted to our servers. You can use the app without granting location access.

GuidonHub uses browser session storage to maintain age gate compliance in accordance with Oregon SB 1546. This data exists only for the duration of your browsing session and is automatically cleared when you close the app or browser tab. No age or date-of-birth information is persisted.

The Locker feature allows you to save resources for quick access. All Locker data is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage on your device. This data is never sent to any server. Clearing your browser data will remove your Locker contents.

GuidonHub includes Scout, an AI-powered chat assistant that helps match you with relevant veteran services. Scout uses rule-based pattern matching — not a large language model (LLM) — to suggest resources based on your queries. Scout does not generate medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations.

All crisis resources surfaced by GuidonHub (including 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline information) are human-verified and manually curated, not AI-generated.

GuidonHub does not use cookies for tracking purposes. We do not use any third-party analytics platforms, advertising networks, or behavioral tracking tools.

GuidonHub uses Mapbox GL for map rendering and geographic display. Mapbox may collect anonymized usage data in accordance with their own privacy policy, available at mapbox.com/legal/privacy. No other third-party services receive your data from GuidonHub.

Because GuidonHub does not collect PII, PHI, or user account data, there is nothing to retain or delete. Session data is ephemeral. Locker data lives on your device and is under your control.

GuidonHub is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.

GuidonHub provides resource guides (healthcare, education, employment, campus VRCs, community care, family benefits, mental health, women veterans, discharge upgrades, and service desert awareness). All guide content is manually researched and verified — not AI-generated. Resource listings include publicly available information (organization names, addresses, phone numbers, service descriptions) sourced from VA facilities data, Oregon state agencies, and verified community submissions.

The Urgent triage feature and bed availability display use self-reported facility data. GuidonHub does not guarantee bed availability or service access — always call ahead to confirm.

GuidonHub includes a crisis detection system that identifies language indicating suicidal or homicidal ideation. When detected, the system surfaces verified crisis resources (Veterans Crisis Line 988, SAMHSA, etc.) and temporarily locks the session to ensure continued access to crisis support. This system uses pattern matching only — no AI analysis, no data transmission, no reporting. Your crisis session state is stored only in your browser's memory and is erased when you close the tab.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the current policy.
